An Update On The Future of StaticSquidd

Hi. This is Ellie, the person on screen in those videos from that "Static Squid" channel.

This isn't going to be great news, so sit tight. 

Or maybe it is, I don't know. 

TL;DR: I am retiring StaticSquidd come next year. However, I am also rebranding and will continue to make videos. So, it's less like the glass is half empty/full, it's more like "the glass has water in it".

It's no surprise I've been dissatisfied with my content on YouTube lately. There's been more cancelled videos in the past year and a half than videos that made it out the oven. I'd say it's genuinely a 2:1 ratio for that, and my last upload was back in November. And that was a compilation, it's been since October since I made an actual video. 

I'll admit it (like I haven't before. lol), StaticSquidd started out as a clone of Scott The Woz, and I feel like I won't ever get out of that keeping the name and everything. I'm not gonna ever delete my old videos, don't worry, but also I just feel like a complete refresh of the channel is something that I want to keep my channel fresh and alive. I still have only like what, 1k subs? It's not like it matters too much.  

StaticSquidd... never felt like "me". Even back when the channel first started, I remember watching the Mario Teaches Typing video (which was like episode 4!!!) and going "Damn, I made this?" both in a positive way AND a negative way, but I didn't know why it was negative yet.

When I watch a video, especially from the Let's Be Dollar General Scott The Woz era, it feels like a vessel took over while I was producing the video and churned out a product that vaguely matches my sense of humor, but let's be real that was just because I find Scott's videos funny. 

You can expect to see those changes taking place around January 2026. I want to make sure I fine tune everything to be good to go (also I want this domain to expire so i can 100% retire the name)

I want to focus more on casual videos instead of scripted "episodes" of a "show" that people don't watch. I still want to have a series up on my channel, and plans are being made by me to rework what I have for the StaticSquidd series into a new show that will be uploaded alongside videos where I just talk about things I want to talk about.  It's not really gonna be a HUGE rebrand, it's still gonna be the same ol' me, but I just want to retire a name I made when I was 15 and start a new chapter in my content creation career. 

It's not completely over for StaticSquidd yet, there's still a video or two in the pipeline (i hope, my track record hasn't been great so far) and a few cameo appearances on other channels, so stay tuned!
Also, the GOTY video will be reworked and released next year. I have interesting thoughts on some releases this year that I want to put into that video. It's been in the works since like 2023. Whoops.

I hope to see you all soon, and this isn't the end of the channel. It's just the end of StaticSquidd.
